Ithappened. A year has passed. Let us look back in wonder and awe at all I’ve delivered to you.
The year began with the 4th annual “On Cinema Oscar Special,” featuring music by Dekkar, a James Dean DNA Test, Mark’s Marx Brothers and much, much more!
THE FOURTH ANNUAL ON CINEMA OSCAR SPECIAL
IN GLENDALE
My first “real” record! I know it might have felt weird to hear me get serious with you, but it wasn’t all THAT serious - I love writing songs and these had piled up without much irony or character behind it. I’m definitely inspired to make more of these. Buy it?
Meanwhile, Decker made the big leap to Television this year. The mandate was “Try 10% more.” We’re now shooting the next two seasons and it’s more fun than you could ever imagine.
We love Vic right? Vic came to my attention a few years ago after he sent a few really funny “On Cinema” tribute songs. He was from my hometown so I took a special interest in giving him an “Odenkirk”: advising and counseling him. His Trump videos blew up but I had a feeling he’s be really good in front of the camera. So, we pitched the idea of going out to the Conventions and “covering” them. It was really hard (lots of weird air b&bs, bad food, no sleep etc) but fun, eye opening, sometimes scary but mostly affirmed my faith in the democratic process. (it has since been re-shaken!)

ON CINEMA SEASON 8
On Cinema moved to Victorville for Season 8. Who saw Sully? Fire! Drama! Catch up on the best internet show of all time.
MORE MUSIC
I was, as you know, caught up in all kinds of crap surrounding this stupid election. Trump, has been the target of mine for years because to me, he’s a big old, dumb, mean clown. It’s not the most original take but it did inspire some songwriting:
Also this year, I began futzing around with Facebook Live and Skype, realizing I could jury rig a good old fashioned call-in radio show out of my iphone and laptop. After a few months of toying with it, Feral Audio came on board to archive the live shows in a podcast format. Its always a total mess, but I do love hearing from you guys across the globe and it’s a fun way to talk about what’s on my mind that might not work in my other modes of creativity.
The rest of the year was spent prepping exciting stuff for next year! Writing more “Bedtime Stories” with Eric, writing and shooting 12 more Deckers…
Oh and I have these two weird roommates who do NO chores.
I continue to love you and thank you for your support….
PS. Since twitter has become a total disaster area, I’m no longer reviewing @ mentions. I’ll still post my thoughts, my “On Cinema” missives and promote stuff but it’s just gotten so ugly that it’s better for my mental health to disengage from that side of it. Its disappointing because I love hearing from you guys but my assistant will occasionally review and pass along anything that looks like fun.
